Comics Bon-Bon Manga Summary for October, 1999 - Beast Wars Neo Capsule Summary: Unicron trashes the combined fleets of the Cybertrons and Destrons, then chases after the Gung Ho so he can deal with Big Convoy. After missing the ship with a kick and ending up in the magma of a small planet, Unicron is left limbless, and sends hordes of Blentrons to stop the Cybertrons, who kick much Blentron hinder. Using Magmatron's sword, Big Convoy beheads Unicron, whose essence then seeks to take over Big Convoy's body. Big Convoy unleashes the power of his Matrix.... [Additions thanks to Drew Dederer's translation help.] Page 1: Big shot of the Gung Ho crew facing down the newly reassembled Unicron. Then there's the sound of many ships coming out of warp, and Break turns to see.... Pages 2-3: The combined Cybertron and Destron fleet cruises in attack formation at Unicron. The Destron cruisers have a draconic look to them. Page 4: The fleets open fire, and Unicron easily blocks the blasts of these mighty gunboats (seriously...the ship design here is to take a huge cannon, attach engines and a bridge), moving impossibly fast for someone the size of a planet. Page 5: Unicron lashes out and crushes the fleet with his bare hands. Page 6: Unicron gloats as the shattered remains of the fleet drift around him. And now he needs only deal with...Big Convoy! Page 7: His hand striking out at nearly light speed, Unicron grabs for the Gung Ho, which warps out just in time. Page 8: The Gung Ho arrives in another system, having bought precious time to figure out what to do. But the warp engines will not be ready for another jump right away...which is just too slagging bad, since Unicron has found them already! Page 9: Unicron kicks out, his leg splitting into a giant claw that seeks to catcht the Gung Ho against the surface of one of the planets. Page 10: As the Gung Ho gets below the clouds, we see that the planet is inhabited. The ship dodges aside just before Unicron's leg slams into a major city, killing thousands instantly. Page 11: The Cybertrons flee at top speed, and Big Convoy expresses regret over inadvertantly leading to the death of a world. Break doesn't get it...a world? Then we get a cutaway diagram showing Unicron's leg sinking into the planet's molten mantle. BOOM! Page 12: Unicron growls in anger as he sees that the destruction of the planet also destroyed his legs. Enraged, he raises both arms over his head for a two-fisted smash at the escaping Gung Ho. Page 13: Unicron misses, and his arms smash into the remaining magma, melting them as well. He now floats in space, his arms and legs destroyed. Navi explains how the molten core did its work, and Break realizes the enormity of this battle...an entire world destroyed in an eyeblink just because Unicron was careless! Page 14: Time to take the fight to Unicron, while he's weak! But, of course, a weak Unicron is still insanely powerful, and he spews forth a cloud of Blentrons to attack the Cybertrons. Page 15: The Blentrons swarm about the ship, and it's all hands outside to fight them! Big Convoy declares that this is the final stand, and prepares to hit something. Page 16: Big Convoy is a whirlwind of destruction, blasting, punching, slicing and otherwise destroying every Blentron within reach! Page 17: Big Convoy stands triumphantly on a pile of dead Blentrons, symbolically attacking one of each type simultaneously. Of interest is that he's pulled Raatoraata's (Injector's) robot face out of its fishy head and has found a new neck to strangle. Page 18: Emboldened by his leader's example, Longrack charges out in centaur mode, holding Break in cannon mode. He blows away a lot more Blentrons, although the effort is making Break dizzy. That, or he feels like he just passed a brick. Page 19: Atop Gung Ho, Stampy uses Corahda's tripod gun mode to mow down the Blentrons. Corahda finally feels some redemption for the guilt he carries about his family's death at the hands of the Blentrons. Meanwhile, Big Convoy has broken away from the fight and is flying towards Unicron's head, Magmatron's sword strapped to his back. Page 20: As a weapon of last resort, Unicron extends his horns as tentacles and tries to spear Big Convoy, who simply slices the horns off with Magmantron's sword. It's the moment of truth...Big Convoy strikes! Page 21: Big Convoy drives the mighty sword into Unicron's eye as the sword crackles with power! Page 22: The half-shattered head drifts away from the body it had constructed, apparently lifeless. Corahda allows himself a silent smile...it's over. Break cheers. But Big Convoy knows it's not over. Some...THING...is oozing out of the wound made by the sword. Page 23: An inky blob leaps from the wound and clamps onto Big Convoy's chest! It grows a mouth and one malevolent eye (after all, Big took its other eye) and laughs evilly. This is the dark essence of Unicron, that which survives even beyond the destruction of his body. And since Big Convoy is a creation of Angolmois, he would make a perfect new vessel! Page 24: Big Convoy struggles with the essence of Unicron, but mere might is useless against it. He doesn't have the strength to win this battle. Page 25: Or does he? Big Convoy opens his chest plate, to the surprise and consternation of everyone, including Unicron. Physical strength may not be enough, but Big Convoy's Matrix carries the purified Angolmois energy of Lioconvoy and Gaea itself. And now, with the fleet destroyed, worlds dead and Big Convoy about to become the new host of the evil that is Unicron, it is truly the Darkest Hour.... Page 26: And so the end begins...the Matrix is opened and the power unleashed. Page 27: As the others look on, Big Convoy finishes opening the Matrix, and its pure energy destroys the taint that is Unicron...but like so many things of great power, it can not be contained.... Page 28: There is a blinding flash, and Legendary Lioconvoy, the spirit of Gaea, steps out to say a few words (gonna try to get a translation of this bit, needless to say). Then he leaves, and all is darkness. [Lioconvoy basically tells Big Convoy to come with him to his much-deserved rest.] Page 29: On a scarred but rebuilt Cybertron, the crew of the Gung Ho stands before a monument to Big Convoy, each eulogizing their dead leader... and friend. But then there's a flash of light...! Page 30: It's Heinrad! All decked out in some sort of admiral's uniform, he explains his role as a servant of the Light or something like that. In another flash, he brings them all to a snow-covered world. The world of... [The symbol on Heinrad's hat is "Time." He apologizes for keeping everyone in the dark, but says that they have basically earned their places at Lioconvoy's side (presumably after they die, he's not taking them to Cyberhalla now).] Page 31: Big Convoy! The mighty mammoth stands there before them all as Heinrad explains the whole plot (another thing I'm going to get translated). [100,000 years ago, at the end of BWII, Big Convoy was born on a distant planet. Heinrad's people, with their temporal abilities, foresaw that when Unicron was reborn, the Cybertrons and Destrons would not yet be one, so something had to be done. They saved Big Convoy's spark and made sure he entered the conflict at the proper time.] Page 32: Everyone rushes forward joyfully, to be reunited with Big Convoy. But he's no longer a Cybertron...he's just a mammoth. It was the Angolmois energy that made him intelligent, although the inner nobility was always there. Now that the Angolmois has been expended in destroying Unicron, Big is back to the way he was before it all started. So, in a way, he truly is dead. Page 33: Break leads everyone in transforming to robot mode, and then he says farewell to the one who made a bunch of raw kids into men. Page 34: They all salute. And as they hold that salute, Big turns and walks away into the snow. Page 35: And so it ends...Big Convoy will always be remembered, especially by the four Cybertrons whose lives he touched. [The spirit of Big Convoy looks down on them and praises the group, they've finally made it.] Dave Van Domelen, not sure if there will be Metals manga next month or not.... [UPDATE: According to Takeuchi Shouichi, there is a Metals manga. And true to form, it follows a sort of odd parallel continuity of its own.]
