News And Nattering

September 5, 2007 - Yep, on hiatus again.

August 30, 2007 - 038

Well, that's it for my buffer, might be going on hiatus again. :) I figured, if I'm gonna go on hiatus, to end on a "form" gag, rather than a plot strip or topical humor. Lorem ipsum is defined on the "About" page, and "Etaoin Shrdlu" are the first 12 letters in order of frequency (i.e. "e" is the most commonly used letter). Back in the old days of manual typesetting, this nonsense phrase would often be used as a test run, and once in a while it would accidentally be left in and result in a little bit of gibberish on the printed page.

August 28, 2007 - 037

Hey, I've got enough to make it to the end of the month, at least! ;) I think this may be my first Breakdown Lane panty shot, not that it's any more titillating than the fully nude Marsha that graced the page during the two years of hiatus. And yes, it's telling about the personalities of the two that Marsha has her knees demurely together, while Jamie just plops down with spread legs.

August 23, 2007 - 036

Buffer's shrinking...I still have one more drawn and one scripted, but this week has been a tad rough on me, being the heavy season at work. And yes, Jamie's cute act includes talking in cursive.

August 21, 2007 - 035

Introducing Jamie! Okay, she doesn't introduce herself until next strip, but that's who she is. I originally planned to make someone along the lines of Akiko or Miki from Mark Crilley's comics, inspired by some discussions on his web board about drawing more slender women, but she ended up a bit older anyway. Such is life. She's essentially Little Jim's opposite number, in that she plays younger than she is, and isn't...well, that would be telling.

August 19, 2007 - 034

Here's the last of the batch drawn on a whim with a crappy licensed Transformers pencil. Still kinda dry on inspiration for the "situation" gags, so I'm focusing on the "actors in comics" side of the premise. I do have to be careful, though, since in the two years since I went on hiatus, I've started reading a syndicated strip "Ink Pen" about a talent agency for people working in comics. Significant differences exist between Ink Pen and Breakdown Lane, but I have to be careful not to accidentally recycle their stories!

Also, check out the About/Cast page, I finally added pictures and updated the info a little.

August 17, 2007 - 033

Basically this is the rest of the joke from 032. Not all my ideas fit nearly into 3-4 panels, sadly. Fred isn't meant to look like any character in particular, by the way, he's mainly doing generic background guys. But there's some Blackout in there.

August 15, 2007 - 032

Yes, it's been nearly two years since the last strip. This isn't really a coming off hiatus, but there will be three strips that I banged out after an offhand comment/joke by a friend. This, plus strips 33 and 34, were drawn using a cheap Transformers "push pencil". Unlike most strips, I did not script these three in advance, instead I came up with dialogue as I drew. As a result...the pacing isn't so great. But at least I can say I put out some content in 2007. :)
