Dave's Toy Rant: Coco Bandicoot Target's got, like, EVERYTHING on clearance this weekend, it seems. And since I had a Target gift certificate in my stocking this year, I decided to burn part of it on this toy, since it also has a penguin. }-> CAPSULE Nice sculpt, very little poseability, can't stand up and face forwards at the same time, accessories just sit there. Neutral. $7.99 regular price at Target, $4.70 on clearance. RANT I'll start off by saying that I don't play console games, so I can't really speak for any accuracy of the toy, nor do I know the details behind the various accessories (although I can guess at the basics). When I first opened up the package, I figured that I'd have no trouble standing Coco up, since she has rather big feet. However, her hair is so heavy and imbalanced that she'll fall backwards unless you either lean her forward a little or turn her head to one side. Her head and hair are solid plastic, and make up nearly half the total weight of the toy (her balance point with arms and hair down is between her shoulderblades)! Leaning her against her crate helps some, but a stand would have been nice. Coco has the basic five points of articulation (neck, shoulders, hips), plus two extra points of articulation in her hair. Oddly, for a figure with a laptop computer, she has no lap. Nor can she hold her computer in an open position (although it'll fit snugly under her right arm when closed). Her left arm seems molded to hold the piece of fruit (which is not "bouncy" at all, counter to the package's claim). The laptop will flip open and closed, but that's about it for the action of her accessories. The penguin and salamander-thing are solid chunks of plastic, the crate just sits there rather than being breakaway. The crystal is nice, although there's a little chunk missing where the flash was carved off. There's a sticker sheet for the crate, but the crate's surface isn't really smooth enough to keep stickers on it for long. All in all, though, about the only reason to take this toy out of the package is to save space. It doesn't do a whole lot out of the package that it can't do while in it. Dave Van Domelen, thinks it would have been nice if you could open the crate and use it to store the accessories....
