STEEL EAGLE

    While studying the history of his adopted world, STEEL EAGLE found much to like in the ideals of the United States of America. To be certain, the nation he and his fellow AUTOBOTS worked with fell short of the ideal in many respects, but that didn't make the principles any less valid. He has become something of an American Patriot, although he refuses to abandon his loyalty to the AUTOBOT cause, and hence cannot become a citizen of the United States in good conscience. In combat, his somewhat archaic energo-swords serve him well so long as he can actually get in melee range, but against flying targets he's limited to a fairly weak laser fired from his optic slit.

Construction notes: This was a fairly quick job. I got a clearanced Autobot Gears and a set of patriotic Pine Car Derby decals, then put them together. Silver leaf paint was a pretty good match to the factory paint job and let me cover up the gear patterns (and fill in the hole in the car's side where there's an unpainted joint), and then I added a few extra details here and there with cobalt blue, metallic red and more silver leaf before attaching the decals. The swords come from a pile of Gundam model kit bits a friend gave me, I reddened the pink blades a little.
